LINE BORING

IN-HOUSE
LINE BORING CAPABILITY

At Joyce Mechanical Services, we have developed our in-house line boring capability to give us greater control over both quality and project timelines.

Line boring is often a critical-path activity during machine rebuilds and major repairs. By completing this work internally, we reduce our reliance on external providers and can better coordinate machining activities with the overall repair schedule. This allows our team to respond quickly as repairs progress, maintain direct control over QA, and ultimately work towards meeting the delivery commitments we make to our customers.

LOCALLY SUPPORTED EQUIPMENT & CAPABILITY

Our line boring systems have been purchased from a local Mackay manufacturer specialising in line boring equipment. We continue to work closely with the manufacturer to refine our equipment, tooling and processes based on the requirements of heavy mining equipment repair.

JMS currently operates two line boring systems, providing the flexibility and capacity to support multiple projects while accommodating the full range of bore dimensions typically encountered across our operations.

SUPPORTING THE COMPLETE REPAIR PROCESS

Our in-house line boring capability supports:

  • Major mining equipment rebuilds and overhauls

  • Chassis and structural repairs

  • Maintenance and breakdown repairs

  • Component overhauls and repairs

  • Pin and bush bore restoration

  • Bore alignment and dimensional restoration

  • Oversize and damaged bore repairs

Having this capability integrated within our workshop means line boring is not treated as a standalone subcontracted activity. It forms part of the complete repair and quality process, working directly with our mechanical, fabrication, NDT and inspection teams.

GREATER CONTROL. GREATER CERTAINTY.

BRINGING LINE BORING IN-HOUSE IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HOW JOYCE MECHANICAL CONTINUES TO INVEST IN THE CAPABILITIES REQUIRED TO DELIVER MORE OF THE REPAIR PROCESS UNDER OUR OWN CONTROL.

FOR OUR CUSTOMERS, THAT MEANS FEWER EXTERNAL DEPENDENCIES, GREATER CONTROL OVER QUALITY, IMPROVED RESPONSIVENESS AND BETTER CERTAINTY AROUND PROJECT DELIVERY.
